Oh yes, you're right about the age, but teens that have tamas (like me) get laughed at a lot.

Some people are jealous that you don't feel the need to do the "in crowd thing" but they feel they have to. So instead of embracing nonconformity they shun it and make fun of those that don't adhere to their pressured living standards.

What a sad life those lead that insist on sculpting their interests and lives around what is popular and what is not, according to a close minded circle of friends they keep. Who will they be when they are 20 and realize that the world doesn't work that way - and they find they are an empty shell of a personality, lost without someone else directing them to what they "should" like, verses what they might have liked if they actually opened their mind and their eyes?

Years later when you look back, you'll have fond memories of the things you loved and enjoyed. The "in crowd" people will look back and see only the things they were basically forced to "like" so that they could have the feeling of acceptance from a group of friends that is likely long gone by the time they reach their 20's.

Hold your head high and be yourself, don't let someone else decide who you really are.

Thanks for the advice. I've never been one for conformity.

Agreed!!

Life is too short to live it to please other people. Only those who truly love you will be there in the end. And those who truly love you will never belittle you for whatever honest interests you have. People come and go in your life and we need to determine for ourselves the interests we want to embrace.

That's what drew me to this place. I have to admit that being an adult and liking cute tamagotchis is not really common. But here, such interests are accepted, no matter the age.

Maybe it's my child-like heart that I never want to lose, ever. Or maybe it's just that brilliant minds think alike.  Wink Tongue  Both?  Grin  But even now I adore cuteness of all sorts. My husband bought me Sanrio thingies for Christmas to add to my collection. A few weekends ago when we went shopping, he bought me three little stuff bunny finger puppets because I fell in love with them.

Thanks for letting me share.  Smiley

Exactly. There's no point in not doing what you want to, because then you get bored and annoyed and you think, "Why did I stop playing with whatever it is?" There's no point in trying to stop someone from doing what they want to, either. I've had 15 people try to stop me from playing with tamas. Guess what, not one of them succeded! Wink

Exactly!  Smiley I'm all for blessing others but pleasing their every whim is fruitless and useless. My husband sometimes chuckles at my silliness but I keep on doing what I like. We're so much more happy just being ourselves personality wise.
