PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- It's an event 100 years in the making -- the last parade of the century. Now 6ABC and Boscov's invite you to celebrate a century of fun with the 1999 Thanksgiving Day Parade. Starting at 9:00 a.m., November 25th, you'll travel back in time to take an exciting journey through the decades, from the costumes and choreography of the early 1900's to today's sizzling music and dance.
WPVI-TV/6ABC's Lisa Thomas-Laury and Dave Roberts host this once-in-a-lifetime extravaganza, featuring a show-stopping performance from the Millennium Celebration at Walt Disney World. Larger-than-life puppets from the new Tapestry of Nations procession at Epcot will come alive before the crowd's eyes and join many beloved Disney characters to celebrate the future hand in hand.
But the celebration's just getting started. For the first time ever, Disney's ``Beauty and the Beast'' Broadway smash hit musical will be coming to Philadelphia, and Janet MacEwen as ``Mrs. Potts'' will be featured in this year's parade, along with Buzz Lightyear and Woody from the soon-to-be- released Disney's Pixar ``Toy Story 2.''
Also featured are the stars of daytime and primetime, including local native and ``All My Children'' star Mathew St. Patrick, singer Anita Ward, Mayor Ed Rendell, New York's hottest all-male tap group ``Newly Released Sound,'' Miss Pennsylvania 1999, Miss New Jersey 1999 and Miss Delaware 1999, along with over a dozen giant balloons, century-themed floats and marching bands from here and around the nation. It's a fun-filled, star-studded one hundred years of history on parade.
The 6ABC/Boscov's Thanksgiving Day Parade, already the highest rated local television event in the Delaware Valley, will also be carried live by WSWB in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA; WTEN in Albany, New York; WFXP in Erie, PA; WATM in Johnstown/Altoona, PA; and WHTM in the Harrisburg/Lancaster/York market. In addition, ABC's Good Morning America will broadcast weather reports, with Action News' own Cecily Tynan, live from the parade site Thanksgiving morning.
This is the 80th year of Philadelphia's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
