TOKYO, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Japanese toymaker Tomy Co Ltd said on Wednesday that shipments of the Japanese version of its electronic pet ``Furby'' had topped its first-year sales target of one million units in just two months.
Describing the sales figure as a surprise, a Tomy spokeswoman said: ``We now aim to sell two million units by the end of March 2000.''
Sales of the talking interactive toy in Japan have been so strong since its debut in late May that shipments have not kept up, she added. The toy is priced at 3,980 yen.
Tomy's share price was up 2.99 percent or 190 yen at 6,540 in early afternoon trade.
