Tiger Protects Furby
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 11, 1999--In the midst of the American International Toy Fair going on currently in New York, Tiger Electronics, Ltd. announced today that it has obtained a temporary restraining order against Polygon Industries, Ltd. and its president, Jack Winters.
The order prohibits Polygon or Mr. Winters from using the trademarks ``Furbish'' or ``Fur Pets,'' or from offering for sale or selling any toy that is substantially similar to Tiger's famous Furby electronic toy.
``This order should send a strong message to all would-be copiers, that Tiger will take all steps necessary to protect its brand and to keep inferior knock-off products from entering the marketplace and confusing toy buyers and consumers,'' said Roger Shiffman, president of Tiger Electronics.
