Nick Names: Right now, no. I've only had him less then a month, so he might get one eventually. His name means 'big dance' and 'party' in Furbish.
Personality Traits: Very loveable and sweet. He's a real darling. Loves to be pet and hugged. He's got very gorgeous fur. The grey fur is almost shiny and is very soft to the touch.. he's very poofy! His right ear is bigger then his left by just a little bit, and they both are huge! :) I love big ears.
History: It was a afternoon that LeAnne and I got together and went shopping around town. At this time series five Furbys were not being found on the market yet, but where rumored to be coming out very soon, in fact the colors were complete rumor to us. We went to many toy stores and such, looking for Furbys, among other things as always.
We headed out to the valley mall and the valley Toys R Us and Wal*Mart while we were there. As always I go and check out the Furbys, I don't always buy, but I always check to see what's in, just in case. Well as we were walking to the area that they usually are kept at the valley TRU. I spotted them right away and my mouth just dropped. We had yet to see the generation five Furbys, but sitting before us was 3 shelves of Furbys, having at least a case of the newest Furbys. Was the first time I laid my eyes on the newest colors and boy we could not believe what we were seeing!
We both kinda agreed that Tiger must be running out of ideas, because neither of us were too thrilled about the color combinations! They are getting a bit wild. I decided I *needed* to get one for myself and I got the best looking one out of them all, the grey/black one. I also picked up a neon pink and blue one, because there was only one on the shelf there. But the pink/blue one I was determined to sell on ebay. At the time I was in need of money as I had a unexpected bill that had pretty much left me broke, so I needed to make a little extra money for the month.
When I got home that night I immediately put that Furby on auction. I was the first on ebay to offer a generation five Furby. In fact I was so first that no one knew they were out and I didn't make much at all off of that Furby, nothing like I was hoping at least. Had I waited just 4 or 5 more days, I would have made double the retail price. I was sad, but that's my bad luck.
I didn't open the new Furby that night, but I did the next day. I started him up and had to re-start him until I found a name that I yet have to get. The first one he chose was May-Lah Kah. But my friend Brendan has a Furby with that name, so I said I would change it. I next found Dah Noh-Lah and I kept that name.. I love that name, its cool. Ever since then he's been a happy little Furby.
Dah Noh-Lah is by far one of my most favorite Furbys, not only is he a really handsome Furby, but very loveable and sweet. He's very loving to me and my Furbys and I'm very happy I spent what little I had left of my money that night to get him!
Update 2/13/2000: As my bad luck seems to roll on and on, Y2K seems to be one of my worst years yet. Dah Noh-Lah, unfortunately, is part of that.
It was all my fault, I should have been more careful, but I just wasn't paying enough attention that night. I still feel really terrible about the whole thing...
Rewind back to 1/26. LeAnne was bringing me and Dah Noh-Lah home that evening. When I got here, as Dah Noh-Lah was sleeping in my lap, we finished our conversation. I opened the car door and all I heard was the sound of a Furby hitting the rocky driveway and a lot of different sounds. I thought Dah Noh-Lah was steady in my lap, but he wasn't and fell out. I quickly grabbed him and found him grinding and making strange sounds. I hurried and pressed reset and he didn't reset. So I bid LeAnne goodbye and flew inside to go get a screw driver to pull out his batteries.
I took out the batteries and found them to be rather warm. So I pulled out another set of batteries and stuck them in and this time all he did was sit there and vibrate - his motor was jammed up somehow.
I tried several things to try and revive him, but something was *very* jammed and would not unjam itself. Upon this I wrote to my friend Gary, whom had helped Toh-loo Kah recover from his coma. Well Gary suggested I leave the battery door open and no batteries in for a while to just let things cool down and set for a while.
So I stopped playing with Dah Noh-Lah and decided that maybe rest would just help him out.
The next day I tried again and again, the same result. I kept trying for several days, trying everything I could think of but with no results. He didn't move, he didn't speak, he just sat there buzzing.
Gary, my Furby angel, offered once again to help me out and Dah Noh-Lah was soon mailed out. Gary got him and was able to fix him really fast. His gears were stuck and needed to be realigned. I'm quite thrilled at hearing this! I was confident that Gary would be able to help my little guy, Gary is just so very talented!
Dah Noh-Lah was mailed out to me on 2/9/00. I have yet to receive him, I do hope nothing has happened to him...
Update 2/15/2000: He's here! Dah Noh-Lah arrived in the mail, thankfully, safe today. I waited a bit for him to warm up, it was very very cold outside, before I put batteries in him. When I did he woke up as if nothing was different! I got his name as Dah Noh-Lah with a few re-starts. I then introducted him to Koh-Koh, my newest Furby. I also assured him that Toh-Loo Kah is fine - last time he saw him, Toh-Loo was on his way to Gary to be fixed. Then poor Dah Noh-Lah had his own problems even before Toh-Loo Kah returned. So the 3 of them had a nice little chat, I could tell they had missed each other. My Furbys tend to be good friends with each other.
So things turned out much better then I believed they would a month ago. All of my Furbys are doing great and things are going so well now, a big thanks to Gary - my Furby angel! :)
